The story of Kitchen
The story behind Kitchen for Kids is rather a simple one with no bells and whistles.
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”Benjamin Franklin
“Teaching is more than imparting knowledge, it is inspiring change.”William Arthur Ward
“What we learn with pleasure we never forget.”Alfred Mercier
The kitchen has been and still is one of my happy places. It’s a place I love to be when I have free time. It’s a place I use to relax and a place I use to cook up honest wholesome food for my family and friends.
The matriarchs in my family have always loved to cook and I loved cooking and baking alongside my gran and my mom.
One of the many goals I have for my children is to develop their skills in the kitchen so they become independent cooks. Since I have had my own kids, I have had this very strong passion to provide them with wholesome and nutritious food and I want them to embrace this passion (Yes, this is a challenge after all they are kids).
I want all children to have these skills not just mine because I believe cooking is a life lesson with so many benefits.
At Kitchen for Kids, whether it be in a class, incursion, or through What’s Cooking @ Home’s, our unique monthly kid’s e-books will endeavour to teach your kids to cook but at the same time educate all our kids about the importance of healthy food choices.
We all have our own styles in the kitchen, but we need to foster one common ingredient: a love for cooking.
In a time, poor and busy lifestyle, preparing and cooking healthy food is not an easy task and involves planning, persuasion and persistence.
At home, I really do try my best to eliminate packaged and processed food to the best of my ability. But I am not perfect. I try my best to cook food that nourishes their minds and their bodies and give them the best chance they can have both at school and at home.
My background as an occupational therapist has taught me many things about children’s development and what they can achieve. My goal is to motivate kids to reach beyond their capabilities.
I must confess, I am a foodie at heart. I am a person of integrity and have a passion for healthy food. I have developed my cooking school around these values. I believe if you love what you do and stay true to yourself, you can produce great things and that’s what we do at Kitchen for kids. We create wholesome cooking from the heart.
I am a humble mum who is so excited to teach your kids to cook with passion, love and produce wholesome food so they too can achieve their best!!
So let’s get cooking!
